枝豆ってなに? / What Is Edamame?

枝豆は、大豆が成熟する前に収穫した若い緑色の豆のこと。 さやごと塩ゆでして食べる、日本の夏の定番スナックです。

Edamame refers to young soybeans harvested while still green. They are typically boiled in salted water and enjoyed straight from the pod.

どんな特徴があるの? / What Makes It Special?

枝豆は、素材の味がそのまま楽しめるシンプルな食べ物。 塩気と豆の甘みが絶妙で、夏の暑い日にぴったりです。

茶豆(ちゃまめ) / Chamame

独特の香りとコクがある高級枝豆。 栽培できる土地が限られているため希少性が高い品種です。

黒豆の枝豆(丹波など) / Black Soybean Edamame

黒豆を未成熟の状態で収穫した枝豆。 粒が大きく、ほっくりした食感で甘みが強いのが特徴です。

This type comes from black soybeans harvested while still young. The beans are larger and naturally sweet.

どうやって食べるの? / How Do You Eat It?

ゆでた枝豆を指でさやから押し出して食べます。 さやの端を少し切ると、塩味が染み込みやすくなります。

To enjoy edamame, simply pop the beans out of the pod with your fingers. Some people trim the ends of the pods so the salt flavor spreads more evenly.

材料 / Ingredients (2–3 servings)

  • 枝豆(さや付き) / Edamame pods
  • 塩 / Salt
  • 水 / Water

作り方 / Instructions

1. 下ごしらえ / Prepare 枝豆を水で洗い、うぶ毛をこすり落とす。 Rinse the pods and rub off the tiny hairs.

2. ゆでる / Boil 鍋に水と塩を入れ、枝豆を3〜5分ゆでる。 Boil the pods in salted water for 5–7 minutes.

3. 仕上げ / Serve ざるにあげて塩をふる。 Drain and sprinkle a little extra salt.
